Artist Statement

In 2009 we visited Paris and spent a lot of time in the three major cemeteries in the city: Père-LaChaise, Montparnasse, and Montmartre. Wonderful details were everywhere. Amongst the many graves that were grand and elaborate, there were many declining into ruin. I was especially drawn to the representative portrait sculptures as they stood their ground against the ravages of time. These photos represent a small part of that visit.
